Bas en Marion in expertpanel EBL

Lausanne, 14 oktober 2015. De European Bridge League (EBL) heeft vandaag de samenstelling bekend gemaakt van het expertpanel dat belastend dan wel ontlastend bewijs moet beoordelen tegen paren die verdacht worden van valsspelen. Dit expertpanel bestaat uit David Bakhshi (Engeland), Jon Baldursson (IJsland), Per-Ola Cullin (Zweden), Bas Drijver (Nederland), Andrey Gromov (Rusland), Mark Horton (Engeland), Zia Mahmood (USA), Marion Michielsen (Nederland), Fernando Piedra (Zwitserland), Jacek Pszczola (USA) en Peter Schaltz (Denemarken). Waar eerder al Eric Laurant (Nederland) was benoemd tot voorzitter van de commissie die de recente beschuldigingen van valsspelen gaat onderzoeken, is ons land hierin dus goed vertegenwoordigd. De tekst van de verklaring van de EBL op diens website luidt:

EBL Investigation Committee Update
The Investigation Committee has now completed the first phase of its brief in relation to the three pairs already notified. Evidence files have been completed and presented to the pairs involved for their response. Upon receipt of their responses and any exculpatory evidence presented, the files will be forwarded to the expert panel for evaluation. The findings will be referred back to the EBL Executive Committee and, where necessary, the EBL Disciplinary Committee. The pool from which the expert panel will be drawn presently consists of [namen – hier zonder landen – zie boven]. An investigation into the activities of a fourth pair has been commenced.

De bedoelde ‘drie paren’ zullen de Israëliërs Lotan Fisher en Ron Schwartz, de Monegasken Fulvio Fantoni en Claudio Nunes en de Duitsers Alex Smirnov en Josef Piekarek zijn; het ‘vierde paar’ betreft waarschijnlijk de Polen Cezary Balicki en Adam Zmudzinski (zie ons artikel van 26 september).
